Dechreuodd y cysyniad am Angor dros 15 mlynedd yn ôl pan ddaeth e'n amlwg bod angen gwirioneddol am wasanaeth cefnogol yma yn Sir Gâr ar gyfer unigolion cafodd ddeiagnosis o ganser neu afiechyd sy'n newid bywyd Angor started over 15 years ago when it became apparent that there is a real need for a support service in Carmarthenshire for individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer or a life-altering diagnosis.

Angor is a charity made up of like-minded individuals from various walks of life who understand the impact that a life altering diagnosis can cause, and who aspire to enable and support the transformation of individuals by providing an informed and holistic service which builds hope and strength. Providing a pathway from clinical services back to the community.

Meet the Trustees

Anita Maria Huws

Anita Maria Huws has worked in the Surgical Oncology Breast Department for over 29 years. She studied in the Welsh National School of Medicine and moved to Llanelli in the 1990’s.

Anita is actively involved in research and has number of publications on breast disease. Anita has qualifications and experience in Palliative Medicine.
Jayne Daniels

Yn 1986 daeth Jayne yn Nyrs Gofrestredig Cyffredinol (RGN) ar ol derbyn ei hyfforddiant yn Ysbyty Treforus, Abertawe. Mae ganddi ddiddordeb mewn oncoleg. Roedd hi'n Nyrs Gofal y Fron, yn Nyrs hyn ac yna yn Arweinydd Tim ar gyfer Nyrsys Gofal y Fron mewn Scrinio eng Nghymru. Mae Gandhi MSc a PhD mewn Nyrsio.
Deris Williams

Deris has worked over the last forty years in the voluntary sector. Employed by the National Youth Movement of Wales and Menter Cwm Gwendraeth the first Welsh Language community based initiative.

Deris has represented the third sector at county and National Levels within public services including Carmarthenshire Local Helth Grooup and Carmarthenshire Local Health Board, Carmarthenshire Rural Partnerhsip, Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Service, University of Wales Council and chaired Hanfod Cymru a national grant funding organisation.

Deris was awarded to Gorsedd y Beirdd at the National Eisteddfod in 1996 a fellowship at University of Wales Trinity Saint Davids in 2011 and the MBE for community services in 2014.
Kathryn Devonald-Davies

Kathryn Devonald-Davies, Head of International Legal Relations, solicitor and owner at DPA Group has extensive experience in both private and practice and the further education sector.

Kathryn is formerly an academic who held senior positions at the top 4 leading universities, a business leader in legal training, commercial mediation and corporate consultancy.

Kathryn specialises in researching innovative methods of combining commercial and legal methods in corporate environments and is passionate about the use of Artificial intelligence and block chain.

Kathryn was a visiting specialist lecturer at the Intellectual Property Office Wales and broke new ground within Welsh University by creating corporate modules to be available through the medium of Welsh. Kathryn was also responsible for the drafting and delivery of legal training modules for the Home Office.
Rev. Eldon Phillips

It is fair to say that Eldon Phillips, a well-renowned and respected local figure, has been around the block. A former schoolteacher and education advisor, Eldon serves as a trustee in many charities and foundations, such as Linx Mental Health, Llanelli House and the Railway Goods Shed Trust. He also proudly holds the position of town crier!
Annmarie Thomas

Annmarie is a farmer’s daughter from Llannon, Llanelli. She started her career in accountancy but moved into Human Resources and is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

She has almost 30 years experience in the HR profession. Her experience has been gained in Education, Financial Services, the National Library of Wales and the NHS. She is currently a partner in the family farm and a Freelance HR Consultant providing support for small and medium sized businesses which includes a contract as a Compliance Lead for a music therapy charity based in England. She is a member of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee for the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales and a member of the Independent Welsh Pay Review Body for Teachers’ and Leaders’ pay and conditions of service.

Annmarie is committed to charity and voluntary work. She is the Chair of Governors of the local primary school, actively involved in the Young Farmers movement, a Trustee for CYCA and ANGOR and member of the local Hospice Fundraising Committee. Annmarie voluntarily provides coaching to young adults on CV and application form preparation and interview techniques. Annmarie brings her knowledge of HR to the Board as well as experience in corporate governance.

Annmarie is committed to Angor's vision and values and was keen to join the board having cared for her only brother during his end of life pathway. She recognises the challenges which carers face when trying to navigate the complexities of the service provided by multi-disciplinary teams.
Derith Powell

Derith is a bilingual practitioner. Recently she established Hadu Newid (Seeding Change), a consultancy service that provides learning on all aspects of asset- based community development.

Other professional interests include providing direct support to local groups and strategic oversight to national organisations which includes a new charity called Building Communities Trust which provides direct financial support to 13 communities across Wales.

Prior to this Derith was CEO of Community Development Cymru and Director of Amman Valley Enterprise and has served on numerous national and UK wide bodies. In 2003 Derith was awarded an MBE for her contribution to tackling poverty and social exclusion.
Gwenda Owen

Gwenda is a successful singer/songwriter who has earned a national reputation as a talented entertainer. As well as appearing regularly on National stages, she has also presented programmes on both radio and television.

As well as having earned national recognition as a recording artist Gwenda is also a successful business women who runs two businesses, one in tourism and one in the beauty industry. When the Breast Unit was opened in Prince Philip Hospital it was Gwenda who was invited to open it officially.

Having suffered with breast cancer as a young women, she dedicated herself to raising funds for the Breast Care Unit and for research work into the treatment of breast cancer. Gwenda is also an author and her autobiography featured her successful singing career but her own brave personal battle with breast cancer. Gwenda remains committed to the cause and to help others who find themselves facing the same battle.
Ian Wyn Rees

Ian was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician to Prince Philip Hospital in 2008. Ian trained at Cardiff and throughout South Wales achieving his research MD in hepatitis C.

Since Ian’s appointment he has established a liver service in Carmarthenshire and is Hywel Dda University Health Board Liver Lead Physician.
Judith Perry

Judith has worked extensively in the public sector over the last 40 years, employed by Dyfed Powys Police, Dyfed and Carmarthenshire County Councils and latterly as the Finance Manager at Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Authority, representing the organisation through partnerships with the Wales Quality Centre, Swansea Univesity and at Welsh Governement. Judith is currently employed in the NHS.

She has also worked alongside her full time post as a lecturer in Public Sector Business, Accounting & Management at undergraduate level at SwanseaMetropolitan University, and also taught various intermediate and professional modules of the Association of Chartered and Ceritifed Accounting course at Neath Port Talbot College.

In recent years Judith, as a result of her own ill health experiences has gone on to study and graduate as a Clinical & Medical Hypnotherapist, and also practises as a Sports Massage therapist.
